He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things? – Romans 8:32
He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things? – Romans 8:32
In this discussion, we are going to talk about the why of life. The last letter of why is “y“. This is like the funnel: the funnel of life. In Judges 6:10-15, we read about Gideon and his walk with God. There are three things that stand up in this verses.
We shall put these three things one for each of the letters of the word “why”.
Most of us always keep saying that life is unfair especially when something goes wrong in our life. Whether successful or not, the question why is always prominent. Why must this happen….?
One of the first answers is because we fail God through our disobedience. It was David who said Lord my mother conceived me in sin. Meaning Adam’s sin reflected on all mankind. Even though we are all sinners, yet God provided us all with something unique and this is where the church gets it wrong. We mix prosperity with spirituality, hard work with spirituality, skill with spirituality. GET THIS: Because you are a million times more spiritual does not mean you have a skill for example business. When God created us, He created us with one important thing: Ability and Strength(Might) and take this; it is not God that develops our ability and might, get it straight NOW! It is your decision to develop it or let it go! It is our responsibility to discover and develop our ability. In these confusion, we miss the original idea. There are two semi-circles in this circle (which is always true).
NO MATTER who you are, if and when you are guided by or obey Jesus’ principles you will see profitability in your life and you might not EVEN be a christian.
Procrastination has stolen our time and is a problem in our lives. Remember that from James 2:20, it is not just enough to believe you can make it and fold your hands and sleep. We need to act on what we believe in and develop skills to uplift the ability that we have. The Lord told Gideon, with this your might you shall deliver your people. Ok, it is fair to accept this that we ALL sin, we sin and sin. However, God is looking at how we focus on developing the abilities that He put into us so He can bless us. Instead of discovering our own abilities and finding ways to develop it with skill with our might so that we can save our people and most importantly ourselves, we christians spend all our time investigating other people’s prosperity (or lack of it). We are not prepared to take any calculated risk(s) or make right decisions which in itself are all skills on their own.
We shall continue with creativity next …
We get up everyday going up and down looking for things to do to add to what we already have. Even in some cases when we take up a new job, it takes about three months to have a grasp with our new job. A big part of that time might be used to learn a new software. Just as that, in a church setup it is very important to get actively involved in church activities so that the good spirit of the brethren rubs on us so that we get gradually perfected in the things of God.
You ought to understand that you are the most important person in your life. We need to do every thing to see tomorrow (future).
Why do we keep saying that tomorrow will take care of itself? As christians, it is because we have hope in christ our savior. When we believe in christ, the holy spirit which is the anointing lives in us. And what does the anointing do? It give us creativity, knowledge to understand the Word of God (Luke 24:45-49), to expand the word and give us wisdom to forecast the future. From this it is very clear that lack of this anointing is what has negatively affected most of us; that is why we are poor and still suffering. We keep foolishly blaming men of God who have tapped into the anointing of God and are financially big; and we complain?????
Anointing makes forcasting easy for christians; and every thing that happens has a solution so a christian does not worry because the anointing helps us to re-organise today for tomorrow. This anointing opens doors, restructure us, open our ears to listen well to key information that will tell us about what would rule tomorrow. If you have no anointing, you cannot be a good manager because you would not be vast minded. It is the anointing that prompts us whether to do or not to do a business. The purpose of anointing is to equip us for the future.
Anointing is the power of God for us unto salvation. Salvation is when things are turned around for our good. We always think christianity is all about this is good and that is bad. It goes beyond all that. It goes into the way we think even about the immediate and external environment. A christian without anointing complains a lot.
The mark of maturity as a christian is how much we are able to improve our lives. This comes when we are anointed. It is the anointing that markets us so no matter our educational levels, without anointing we have crisis throughout.
We human beings are very unique. Two or more people need to have some thing(s) in common to start a communication.
Expanding the common things that exist between us brings about further communication. So what of communication? Well when we communicate a lot, we tend to like each other or one another and therefore want to know more. The more we communicate, the more we find more common things (or not).
When a fellowship exits, then we have a relationship that was built on further communication. There we can tell people how good or otherwise the other person feels. In this case we testify. The interactions between those common things we communicate about leads to a relationship. Here there are expectations in our behaviour and we develop likeness, like or even dislike.
With a lot of things to testify about people, we end up testifying on more things than normal that we start to love (or even hate) them. When love exists, there is always a mutual benefit. This is how most of us build love.
When we work for a company or organisation, we get paid at the end of the month. That is not a gift. A gift is always free and would remain so. We do not work for a gift! Anything given to us for something we have done or expected to do is not a gift.
God does not build love towards us like the way we build love, NO! God loves us even before he created the world. In John 3:13-16 Jesus said he loves us personally because as his followers we are His friends.
If ever you feel small in terms of God’s love as part of the whole world, remember that in John 3:16 he came to die for us and in John 15:18 even the world hated Him first.
Which church did you plan to go to, which one did you end up with, and why do you want/need to hear the word of God in that particular church?
These are some of the questions that we knowingly or unknowingly ask ourselves when choosing a place of worship. However, why do people go to church? Here are some reasons;
We have so many plans in life that we at times get confused on the way. However, it is these plans that motivate us to get up everyday and get going. No matter the industry we find ourselves even caring for our children.
It is extremely important to realise that there are things that can hinder or delay our plans. In John 3:1-3 we read about the learned Nicodemus whom Jesus told that “except a man is born again…..”. This means except we who are his followers can be under;
Meaning also that except we who want to progress can change our ways….. Lets us note that all of these plans we have of ourselves are towards our personal growth, uplifting, profitability, etc. Jesus liked these to the parables of the scattering of seeds and the mustard seed in Mark 4:26-29 and 30-32. When a farmer scatters his seeds in the field, he expects growth, multiplication na profitability likewise when we have a very small idea, it can be nurtured to greatness and dominance like the mustard tree is. Jesus implied that the kingdom of God is like growth and profitability in our endeavour.
Except a man is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God, In a nutshell means except you and I who are looking for progress in life can be disciplined, obey necessary instructions, be positive influenced or change for the better, then TRUTHFULLY we cannot enjoy profitability, peace of mind and growth in our lives.
We do not need prayers to achieve, accomplish or get over things we can physically avoid.
When we come together with one mind, we can achieve a lot. In Luke 11:17, Jesus said any kingdom filled with civil war is doomed; so is a home filled with conflict and negative arguments. Definitely there will come times in our lives when we are wronged by those around us. There are so many of us also who are depressed because of broken trust.
One thing is for sure, God and Satan, have at least one thing in common: They all know the power of unity. Unity is strength!
The key is to Let Go!
Leave everything and follow me! Jesus’ big command to us all. When we believe in the Lord (Mark 16:17) as our saviour and do as he commands, then we shall not only do what Jesus did, but do more; John 14:12. Jesus summed this up by saying that if we have faith and trust we can do greater things in his name; Matthew 21:21. We need to learn the art and act of forgiveness. There is NO way that there can be unity if we cannot learn how to forgive.
Trust is very important
We are all dynamic and so strategies have to be different when we deal with one another. We are equally created but differently talented. However, God orders the feet of the righteous Psalms 37:23 so when we allow Him into our hearts, He will give us the strategies to trust.
When trust exists among us then there can be unity. When there is unity, then as Jesus said in Matthew 18:19, when two or three agree it shall be made possible.
We need to make real sacrifices to enable us reach our targets and/or goals in life. Why? ..because we chose this path as human beings; though in the beginning it was not so.
In Gen. 4:1-7, we study an important lesson; the true and false approaches to God. Cain and Abel, both children of Adam and Eve were farmers. Cain was into crops whiles Abel was into animals. They got up one day and decided to sacrifice onto God. However, God did not accept that of Cain but accepted that of Abel, why??? A reason is not because Cain offered crop sacrifices whiles Abel offered animals. Abel’s sacrifice was accepted due to his personality and his attitude towards God. So why was Cain angry? There should be some background reasons for Cain’s attitude. This is where personality comes into play.
God in His loving kindness even (in Gen. 4:6-7) offered Cain an explanation to His rejection of his (Cain’s) offering, gave him plans for the redemption of the situation and also His (God’s) direct advice concerning sinning. What did Cain do? He threw all those back at God and CHOSE to still carry on. Cain therefore sinned against God and man. Sin is the contradiction of one’s conscience and that of others; to disorganise somebody’s life.
Reading 1 Samuel 15:22 and Ecclesiastes 5:1, we find out that it is better to obey than to sacrifice. It was not until we sinned that sacrifices needed to be made to atone for our sins.
The disobedience of God’s word leads us to think that we can fight for God and protect the church. But if we understand 2 Timothy 2:15, we would work daily towards increasing our knowledge in God’s word which is the truth. As Christians our personality needs to be right; not the Cain’s worship approach of pride and disobedience. If we worry about these first and leave the other things to God, then He would use us as rocks to straighten His body (church) Matthew 16:18.
A seed is a viable and complete unit containing the necessary information for the next generation. From Genesis 8:22, there is always a time to sow and a time not to sow. You decide what to do with your seed. God gave us seeds; not the finished substance. One can either eat his seed(s) or sacrifice it and sow them. At the appointed time, the seed will germinate, grow and bear fruits all things being equal.
In Matthew 13:4-8, the parable showed us certain types of farmers: We could group these farmers into two big groups.
The first group (Matthew 13:4-7) wanted some one to blame. They ate their seeds. They wanted people to see them sow. They had their seeds trampled upon, adulterated and even birds ate some too, etc.
The second group (Matthew 13:8) are the ones who did everything good to sow their seeds and multiply their seeds. However even amongst them, they had different levels of investments/inputs into their farming and so three different levels of outputs. These group;
1st: (hundredfold) they meditate on God’s word day and night. They believe in studying them selves be a workman to be approved 2 Timothy 2:15. They work selflessly just to please God, not leaning on human understanding, and never giving up (Psalm 126:6 and Ecclesiastes 11:6).
2nd: (sixtyfold) these ones think only of themselves. (Everyone for himself type of people). Don’t care whatever happens in church. They still depend on others to survive.
3rd: (thirtyfold) asked too many questions about why this and that had to be done in this way….
These Shall be Your Portion In Jesus’ Name
Though they shall rise against you, the Lord will raise a standard against them. Why??! Because the bible states, greater is He that is in us then He that is in the world. God told Joshua (Joshua 1:3) that, every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, there He will give to him.
God does not force people to do things against their will. However when we do His will He would do for us on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). He is looking for an opportunity to bless us! We read Genesis that God blessed Abram. He prospered but with limitations. He had no son to be the father of many nations.
God tested Abram many times but this particular time, after he had Isaac, He told him to go sacrifice his only loved son Isaac. When he eventually passed, God blessed him with the blessing of being the “Father of multitude of nations”; The reason we know of Abraham today.
When we are looking for a blessing in our lives and we ask God to intervene, we at times realise that it is that same thing that we are looking for that God uses to test us. When we read the beginning of this story God told Abram in (Genesis 12:1-9) that he should leave the father’s house and he God would make his children as uncountable as the sand of the sea shore. Abram made the decision to leave with faith!
When God asks for a sacrifice He will always provide the sacrificial lamb. When we are prepared to do His will as He directs us then he would see us through it all. When we do these things to please God we present Him with opportunities to bless us.
…because He lives we can face tomorrow. This popular song reminds us of the faith that Moses had in God when he was tasked to deliver God’s people. In Exodus 33:12, Moses asked God for assurance that He would be with him.
In life, we must know as Christians that there will be trouble in every step of the way. What is sure is that as born again Christians, God promised us that we would over come. Weeping may last for the night but joy comes in the morning (Psalms 30:5). He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies (Psalm 23:5). Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).
In everything that happens in our Christian journey, He promises to be in front and behind us. We need not be afraid as long as we are doing what is right in the sight of God; In Psalms 119:105 and John 8:12, the Lord would direct our path and also be a light onto our path. One thing that is very certain is as long as it is the Lord we have heard from about a journey we are about to undertake then He will make sure that it is successful. The Lord God cannot LOSE!
Your weakness is your secret and your secret is your weakness though it is actually your strength. Your fear is the ‘visualisation’ of your weakness. So fear is the opposite of boldness. Boldness comes from knowing that we are under the rock that is higher than us (Psalm 61:2) or we are standing on the shoulders of giants (This is the edge inscription of the GBP £2 coin).
In Genesis 6:9 onwards, we learn that God actually regretted making man. Noah was right with God not because he was perfect but he found favour or was just in the sight of God. It is believed that Noah was not a top ranking guy in his community, he was just a small short who did just in God’s sight. When God asked him for a favour to build the big boat that would preserve some of his creations, he had a tough time sending the message across since the people were sinful and actually most people would not listen to a nobody in society.
God loves this world so much that He gave His only loved son! God gave His son specific instructions as to what to do in the world to buy out our sins. The benefit, so that all who believe in Him would find their way back to the Father. When we also want to give, let us not just do it because we have to but give because of the benefit that it would bring (Malachi 3:10). Tell, prophesy or speak to your offering or gifts what you want it accomplish. Idol worshippers speak, enchant, etc. into things they give to us so that those things would perform certain functions. So when we Christians are giving, why do we just give?! SPEAK to your offerings and gifts in Jesus’ name and tell your gifts in His name what you want it to achieve and see if Jesus would not tell His father in heaven to honour your words. Amen!
